“Guru Pradeep Shankar Academy of Promoting & Performing Arts” is named in honour of Shri Pradeep Shankar, an eminent Kathak dancer and a senior disciple of Padma Vibhushan Pt. Birju Maharaj. He was associated with Kathak Kendra, New Delhi, and dedicated 14 years in Trinidad (West Indies) to teaching and spreading the art of Kathak.

The academy was established in December 2015, carrying forward his rich legacy of dance and education.
For many years, Mahua Shankar envisioned establishing an academy in honour of her father, Guru Pradeep Shankar. Founded with this heartfelt purpose, the academy is dedicated to nurturing young and emerging dancers and musicians by providing them with a meaningful platform to grow and excel. It strives to carry forward the rich legacy of Indian dance and music, spreading its essence and cultural fragrance across the world.
Today, the academy nurtures students from across the globe—Taiwan, Ukraine, America, Turkey, and Japan—imparting training in Kathak, Sarangi, Sitar, and Vocal music.
The empanelled teachers are renowned artists, each a master in their respective discipline, bringing years of experience and deep-rooted knowledge of Indian classical arts. Under their expert guidance, students receive not only technical training but also a profound understanding of tradition, expression, and performance.
